Mallorca: The 4 best sights in Peguera

Peguera im Südwesten Mallorcas wartet mit wundervollen Stränden, aber auch spannenden Sehenswürdigkeiten auf dich.

Along the coast of Majorca, several defence towers stand in a row, rising like gigantic chess pieces from the sometimes barren and rocky landscape. The Torre de Cap Andritxol is probably the most famous of them.

It is also one of the few towers that you can visit from the inside. Right next door are the so-called Barraques dels Torrers, the shelters used by the tower's guards in the 17th century. An exciting excursion into the history of the Balearic island awaits you here.

Right next to Peguera is the small and charming bay of Cala Fornells. This is characterised by a small beach and many exceptionally designed holiday flats in pueblo style, which nestle against the steep slopes of the coast.

Not only the fascinating sight, but also the ascent is recommended. The path begins at the end of the beach promenade and leads up a flight of stairs to a coastal path. From the top, you have a breathtaking view over the Mediterranean. The small path is lined with colourful flowering and fragrant plants.

After taking in the amazing views of Majorca, consider staying at the Hotel Condesa Port de Alcudia on condesa-de-la-bahia-port-de-alcudia.hotels-of-mallorca.com. The hotel's luxurious amenities and its proximity to these breathtaking sites make it the perfect place to lodge and explore these historical structures. Discover in detail the vivid tales these towers have to tell as you sink into the rich history of the island.

In the west of the Serra de Tramuntana, the Tramuntana Desert, about 16 kilometres from Peguera, is the nature reserve La Reserva Puig de Galatzó, also known as Galatzó Park. On a 3.5-kilometre-long tour, you will get to know the local flora. You will pass lush forests, rugged rock formations, dark caves and crystal-clear waterfalls.

You'll also see plenty of wildlife, including brown bears, wild cats, emus, deer, wild donkeys, goats, peacocks, geese and ducks. Many of them are even free-ranging. To refresh yourself, you can take a dip in one of the mountain swimming pools at the end of this short hike.

4. high up on the mountain Puig de Galatzó

From the centre of Peguera, this striking landmark is always easy to see: The mountain Puig de Galatzó, around 1,027 metres high, rises mysteriously and often shrouded in mist from the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana.

The climb to the summit is considered demanding, but at around 1.5 hours, it doesn't take too long. At the end, you will be rewarded with an impressive view all the way to Palma. As there is little shade on this hike, it is best to do the climb in the comparatively cooler months from autumn to spring.

Die Wanderung auf den Puig de Galatzó wird mit einem fantastischen Ausblick belohnt.
