Terms and Conditions (March 29, 2020)

By using this Website, the user (“you”, “your”) agrees to the following:

1. This website has been set up by its owners (“we”, “us”, “our”) as an emergency response to COVID-19 pandemic with the specific goal of accommodating the need of Ontario COVID-19 frontline workers in finding support of a psychotherapist during the pandemic (“the purpose”).  Your use of this website is a privilege.  Neither this website nor information provided through it may be used for any other purpose.

  1. The website’s functionality is limited to providing referrals of volunteering Ontario’s therapists, analysts, counselors and clinical social workers (“psychotherapist(s)”) to persons who register on the website as Ontario frontline workers responding to COVID-19 (“frontline worker(s)”). We act solely as a service provider for psychotherapists to distribute their information to frontline workers upon request. The services and materials are provided on this website, and in relation to it, on the voluntary basis and free of charge.  Neither the website nor any activity or material available through it are intended to be the practice of psychotherapy. We are not, and do not purport to be, a regulated entity engaged in the regulated practice (e.g. a health profession corporation, etc.).  We reserve the right to reject the registration of a person who does not qualify as a frontline worker.  Our psychotherapists will have the right to refuse to provide their free service to such a person at any time.
  2. Upon signing up, a psychotherapist is asked to provide their registration number issued by their respective professional organization (e.g. College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario, Ontario College of Social Workers, College of Psychologists of Ontario, the Ontario College of Nurses, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario). While a reasonable attempt is made to verify this number prior to adding the psychotherapist to the database, we do not monitor the psychotherapists professional status and therefore cannot and do not assume responsibility for, or guarantee, that any of the representations made by psychotherapists about their professional credentials or background either on the website or later are accurate or true. Psychotherapists are hereby reminded that their work with frontline workers will be subject to, and must be complied with, all applicable laws, regulations and standard applicable to the practice of psychotherapy in Ontario.  Regardless of the format of the sessions (e.g. phone, videoconference) in which a psychotherapist practices, the applicable professional Regulations, Codes of Ethics and Professional Practice Standards will apply. Further, psychotherapists are solely responsible for the content of their postings on the website and any consequences arising from such posting.
  3. Each frontline worker is provided with up to 3 referrals. While we will take into consideration frontline worker’ specific requests when selecting the referrals, we do not recommend or endorse any type of therapy, therapeutic school or professional therapeutic background. The referrals will include the psychotherapists’ contact information and, if provided to us, their website and professional background description.  We encourage frontline workers to learn more about their psychotherapists and their professional background by checking their website and/or speaking to them directly.  We do not monitor conduct of the volunteering psychotherapists.  In the event of any issues or questions about psychotherapists and mental support they provide, frontline worker should contact the professional organization of the psychotherapist (CRPO at , Ontario College of Social Workers (), College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (), the College of Psychologists of Ontario (), the College of Nurses of Ontario (), and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario ().
  4. Upon signing up on the website, the psychotherapists commit to providing up to five (5) free teletherapy sessions to each frontline worker who contacts them through referral from the website. It is up to each frontline worker and their chosen psychotherapist to agree on the details of these 5 free sessions and, if there is mutual agreement to continue the sessions, thereafter.
  5. We make no representations or warranties whatsoever regarding the website, any content or materials offered through it, and quality of the service that may be provided by the volunteering psychotherapists. NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY IN THESE TERMS OF SERVICE OR ELSEWHERE, THE WEBSITE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” BASIS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY ABOUT THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, COMPLETENESS OR TIMELINESS OF THE SITE, CONTENT AND MATERIALS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY THAT THE SITE’S SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, THE SITE’S FUNCTIONS SHALL BE ERROR-FREE OR, THAT THE SITE OR THE SERVERS THAT MAKE IT AVAILABLE ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Under no circumstances will we be responsible or liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage caused by your use of this website and reliance on information and service obtained through it.  The services of this website, including the support services provided as a result of this website, may be terminated at any time.
